Pumpkin Carving

Yesterday morning, we finally carved pumpkins! The kids loved it, and Emma felt really "big" because this year because she not only got to scrape out the inside, but she got to carve with the knife. (It's a "safety" knife for carving pumpkins but still, she thought it was pretty cool that I let her help cut!)
Luke dug in but wasn't too sure about the goop at first...hence the expression on a couple of the pics. below. In the end, he had a great time and enjoyed saying, "scoop, dump" over and over again while cleaning out his pumpkin. Emma has always loved carving pumpkins and I think this year she enjoy the fact that Luke was actually interested in carving with her! We decided against carving the gigantic pumpkin she picked at the patch so she decided to carve one from Bapa's garden instead.

"Look at the goop"

I asked Luke which shape he wanted for the eyes... instead, he held them up to his eyes!

"Cheese!" with his pumpkin's mouth

Earlier in the month, Emma had "Dad and Me Pumpkin Carving" at preschool. It's a night for the preschooler and dad to go to school, eat popcorn, carve the pumpkin they got on their field trip, and take a few pictures. It happened to be on Jeff's birthday this year, what good dad to spend his birthday with his daughter. :) She was SO excited that just she and daddy got to do something fun, without Luke and I. Last year, there was a big wind storm/power outage so the evening was cancelled so she was thrilled she got to go this year!

You are so brave!! :) We have not taken this on yet in our household. I think we may have to next year.

Great pictures of your kids too! Looks like they really got into the spirit of it...even did Luke by the end! I also loved that Jeff went with Emma for a special date on his birthday! :) Very sweet!
