We're Going to Disneyland!!

For all of you who have been anxiously awaiting the "story" and pictures that go along with Emma finding out she will be celebrating her 5th birthday in Disneyland, it's finally here. (Won't mention any names but a certain person whose name rhymes with Ken has been hounding me...) Here is the "play by play" of Emma finding out her dreams were about to come true!

We booked our trip a month or two ago, but knew that was WAY too long for an almost 5 year old to wait. She's very good about counting "How many sleeps..." until an exciting event but somehow telling her "Only 45 more sleeps" didn't sound appealing. We decided to tell her 2 weeks ahead of time. Luke isn't coming with us, so I didn't want to make a big deal about it in front of him so we scheduled Emma's phone call from Mickey and Minnie for 8:15 at night. I set up the video camera to catch her every move, unsure of whether I'd capture her bouncing off the walls or simply saying something like, "I know..." The phone rang and I honestly think I was more excited than I have been in a LONG time (I know, might sound sad but I know how much she is going to LOVE going!) Here is the exact play by play... (or most of it!)

She answered it, put it on speaker as usual and listened... after Mickey and Minnie said their little diddy, she hung up. She looked at us and said, "Why did Mickey and Minnie call me?" (We had a feeling she might not get it...)

We asked her what they said and she said, "that they are so excited to see me at Disneyland."

E - "But not real soon!!"

Us - "Yes, real soon!"

E - "But we don't have enough money!!" (what we've said to throw her off...)

Us- "We do have enough money and we're going for your birthday!"

E- (pause) "But my birthday is at Chuck E Cheese!"

Us- "That is on another day, for your real birthday we're going to Disneyland."

E - "YESSSSS!!!!" (as she slides off the couch)

(My personal Favorite!)
She then opened the little package we had bought for her (luggage tag, camera and little photo album) and then called her cousins to tell them. After talking to them, she disappeared upstairs. When I went upstairs to see what she was doing, she was packing - she has packed her toothbrush, toothpaste, dresses, brush, etc. Then, we had the discussion about how many more sleeps. :) She was giddy as she went to bed that night and we talked about all the things we would do and see. She could hardly stand it! The next day we made a paper chain and she's been tearing one off each day. As Emma would say, "Only 5 more sleeps!!"
So excited!

That's awesome!! :) This is a memory that she will be able to hold on to for the rest of her life! How wonderful!

Speaking of never forgetting...I can still hear your mom's voice telling us before our freshman year of college that it was 3 more sleeps away! I now use it with our oldest too!
