New Rides

Trying out his scooter for the first time

Right after we got home - swapping scooters

Emma on her new Scooter

On the back deck - So proud!

I LOVE this thing!!!

This weekend while camping both kids took a liking to our friend's scooters. Emma has been asking for one "for Christmas" for the last couple of months and Luke is always "borrowing" them from neighbor kids. This weekend was no exception! Luke continuously borrowed two of them and Emma did the same. Neither one knew how to ride and would try to ride but usually ended up just walking around with it. We got home Sunday morning and Sunday afternoon we went to Target and bought each kiddo a scooter. Within an hour, Luke had taught himself how to ride his, and Emma is now doing really well too. They love their scooters and take turns on each one. (Luke can't ride Emma's but likes to walk with it.) Emma is becoming more daring on hers and now even holds her leg up while riding so she can coast. They are both quite proud of themselves! We have the whole summer ahead of us and their scooters will be a fun addition to their outdoor toys!

We also invested in a helmet for Luke. I think last summer was the first year we had Emma wear a helmet but Luke tends to be our daredevil. He rides bikes/trikes down our (and neighbors) driveways with his legs up and gets going pretty fast. The other day, he rode his bike off the sidewalk and then he coasted down the neighbors driveway on their trike and put his feet down within 2 inches of hitting a scooter that was laying at the end of the driveway. (Had he hit it, I'm sure he would've taken a header over it!) He LOVES being outside and is all about "Bi" (bikes) as he calls them. It's fun watching him and his adventurous sprirt in the great outdoors!

I only have 2 days left with students and 6 days left of work... I can NOT wait to spend all summer with these two!!

Hi Sarah. So good to hear from you. Thank you for checking out our blog and for leaving a comment. Hope you liked the pasta! I just quickly peeked at your blog. We're running out the door so I will read more later. I'm gonna add you to my "bookmarks" so I can keep up with your precious family. Your kiddos are darling and growing up so quickly. It goes fast doesn't it? My mom forwarded some pics from the surprise party you had for your parents a few months ago. Looks like y'all had lots of fun. And your home is so pretty! Have a great weekend!

Hi Karen!! The pool is from Target, my favorite store! :) It is smaller than I thought it was but kinda fun as you can attach the hose to the giraffe and water will spray out of his head. The kids like it anyway! :) I haven't made the pasta yet but have the recipe printed out so I will, it looks delicious! Your boys are TOO cute... it is so fun to be able to watch them grow via the pictures! Have a great week!!

LOVE the scooters, Sarah! Luke's is really cool. I am tempted to get one for Drew, but he is fine with Sadie's pink and blue Barbie one now that she has her new one! Yay for gross motor development!
