When Life Gives you Lemons...

Okay, so I know I don't have to finish that sentence for you... but, I have to say, we made lemonaid this weekend! :) We were supposed to go camping to Mount Rainier with some friends. A camping trip which has been planned since May. We were to leave Friday morning and come home today - well, Thursday afternoon, Luke threw up. We of course were bummed out, and hoped he'd be okay but made the decision that if he got sick again, we weren't going. (Too much effort to pack, organize the car, drive 3 hours, set-up, etc. if you have a sick kid in tow!) We thought we had made it, but right before bed, he got sick again. So, we made the decision, as sad as it was, not to go. We were really bummed out, but decided that if he was better over the weekend, we'd have to make it a fun weekend at home.

Of course, he didn't throw up at all on Friday but slept longer than normal, etc. By Friday afternoon/evening, he was 100% back to normal. That of course left me second guessing our decision but I'm convinced that if we would've gone, he or one of the 3 of us would've wound up sick while camping.

Friday night we hung out in the cul-de-sac with some neighbors and drank a cold one while the kids were riding bikes and playing. Saturday morning, we got up and went to the fair. The kids loved it! Last year, Emma had a blast but poor Luke (being the second child) was stuck in the stroller the whole time. :) He didn't seem to mind but this year he got to go on rides, check out the animals, etc. Luke loved his first car ride but wasn't so sure of the second ride. My favorite moment of the day was when Luke suddenly decided he didn't like one of the car rides and started looking like he was going to cry. Emma scooted over next to him and put her arm around him and then he was just fine! They rode like that the entire time. Saturday night, my parents babysat (THANK YOU!) while Jeff and I went out in Seattle. We had a nice dinner and were going to go to a movie but instead ended up going to Kerry Park on Queen Anne and taking in the view before heading home. Today, my mom, Katrina and I are going to "Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants 2" and out to eat - one of my favorite things to do!!
Pony Rides!

They almost won...

Checking out the hot tubs...

Shaved Ice!

Emma on the swings
My favorite moment of the day!
Not the best shot, but what do you expect
from a 4 year old photographer? ;)
All in all, what was going to be a fun weekend camping, turned out to be a fun weekend at home instead!

You're welcome for the award!

Love your positive attitude. Sounds like an awesome weekend afterall. I would have made the same decision about staying home, too, if it makes you feel any better!

What sweet moments between your kiddos. Love how Emma put her arm around Luke and comforted him on the rides. Doesn't it make your heart swell with pride?!

Say hi to your Mom and Katrina for me!

Fun times! Way to go! I love how you capture everything in pictures. I am still going to get to watch the kids grow up even from across the miles! :)

How was the movie yesterday? I can't wait to see it tomorrow! :)
